Scottish Labour Leader Resigns Over Misconduct

Scottish Labour interim leader Alex Rowley has resigned over his alleged misconduct in the past, the party has said.

His resignation comes after The Scottish Sun published a report of allegations leveled at him by a former partner.

His partner, a 49-year-old woman, had accused him of subjecting her to years of “emotional blackmail and abuse.”

The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said the Scots Labour chief “destroyed my life,” pledging to speak out as a sex scandal continues to engulf Westminster and Holyrood.

In response, Rowley issued a statement, saying, “I totally refute these allegations and will take all steps necessary to clear my name.”

“These allegations must be properly and thoroughly investigated in line with our party’s procedures – and I will refer myself to the party so such an investigation can take place.”
